How to Profit with Sportsbook Daily Boosts
By making low-stakes bets where you have the odds advantage, you can have fun betting on sports while building your bankroll and avoiding the risks of traditional sports betting
Mobile Sportsbooks give customers a variety of free bets and odds boosts to promote themselves and engage users. The biggest bonuses go to new customers, like a Risk-Free Bet up to $1,000 or Bet $10 to Win $200, but they also give smaller bonuses to established customers every day. If used correctly, these daily boosts overcome the house's standard 10% cut on any bet (also known as "the vig") and tilt the odds in the favor of the customer. There are caps on how much money you can wager on any of these promotional boosts, but if you place enough boosted bets you are guaranteed to build your bankroll.
Let's take a look at some different types of daily boosts and consider how to maximize our advantage with them.
PointsBet Power Hour
PointsBet Sportsbook gives users a hefty odds boost or free bet every day, but you have to log in and place the bet between 6PM and 7PM. A standard Power Hour boost is a free bet on a Same Game Parlay. Since the free bets that they give out are small (sometimes as little as $1), we recommend making a long-shot parlay of +300 or greater. Place enough free Power Hour bets, and some will cash. You'll be able to build up to place one of their high-leverage PointsBetting wagers, where you get a higher payout the more you are correct. If anyone bet "over" on the Clippers vs. Kings game on 2/24 where the Kings won 176-175 in the second-highest scoring game in NBA history, they won huge.
BetMGM Odds Boost Tokens
BetMGM will boost the odds in your favor, but they usually require long-shot bets with a minimum of 4 legs and +400 odds. These can be tough to hit, but the boosts are big enough to tilt the odds in your favor. For example, a coin flipped four times has a 1 in 16 chance of coming up heads in each instance (or +1500 in American odds). As seen in the image below, parlaying four -110 spread bets (same implied odds as four coin flips) without the boost will get +1258 odds which is much lower than +1500, but applying the odds boost will take you to +1530, which is greater than +1500 and therefore you have the advantage. We recommend wagering low amounts of money on these long-shot parlays which will usually lose, but when they do hit they'll make up for your losses and build your bankroll.
Draft Kings No Sweat Same Game Parlay
DraftKings gives away "No Sweat Same Game Parlay" bets which give users an equivalent free bet of up to $10 if their parlay loses. Free bets only pay the profit of a winning wager, so they're only worth about half of their face value—a winning $10 free bet on +100 odds will pay out $10, while a $5 cash bet on +100 odds also pays out $10. This is essentially a 50% value boost on any DraftKings Same Game Parlay, and gives you a shot to win back your money if it loses. You won't see the "Risk-Free Bet" appear on your bet slip, but after pressing "Opt-In," your next qualifying bet will have the promotion applied.
Championship and Playoff Promotions
Most people bet on the biggest games, like the Final Four in March Madness, the NBA Finals, and of course, the Super Bowl. To make sure that players are looking at their app for the biggest events of the year, they give away free bets and larger profit boosts. The most fun sportsbook promotion for the Super Bowl was probably FanDuel's "Gronk Kick of Destiny," which featured the first-ever "live" Super Bowl ad, which saw Gronk miss his Kick of Destiny. However, users still won, and if they opted-in to the promotion and placed a $5+ bet on the Super Bowl, they were credited with a free bet the next day. Make sure to check all Sportsbooks when playoffs and championships come around and find the promotional bets are high value.
With all of these promotional boosts, you have to be sure to read the terms and conditions to make sure that your bet slip is eligible. We also recommend sticking to boosts on bets where you get to do research and decide the legs, as opposed to blindly following the sportsbook on a specific boost like "-150 to +100 for LeBron James, Ja Morant, and Stephen Curry to all score 25+ points tonight!"
We hope this post gave you an idea of how to use the promotional boosts from sportsbooks to tilt the odds in your favor. By making a large amount of low-stakes bets where you have the advantage, you can have fun betting on sports while slowly accumulating money and avoiding the risks of traditional sports betting. Once the different sportsbooks have established themselves, these promotional offers might dry up as they try to recoup the money that they have given out, so take advantage while you still can!
